The third edition of Web Summit Qatar 2026 officially kicked off on Sunday in Doha, bringing together entrepreneurs, investors, innovators, leaders of major international companies and startups, as well as decision-makers and experts from several countries, including Morocco.
Held over four days, the summit aims to strengthen its strategic positioning by attracting leading startups and technology leaders from various sectors, while providing an interactive environment that fosters the transformation of ideas into high-growth potential projects.
Morocco is represented at this major international event by the Minister of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, as part of the Kingdom’s continued openness to international technological partnerships and its efforts to strengthen its presence in global debates on the future of the digital economy.
On the occasion of the summit, the Amir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, expressed in a post on the “X” platform his hope that this gathering would stimulate the exchange of expertise and support the knowledge-based economy in the region. He emphasized that the advanced initiatives promoted by this leading regional technology platform open new horizons for innovation, partnership, and digital entrepreneurship.
In his opening address, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, highlighted that the world is undergoing an unprecedented phase in which innovation has become the most valuable currency. He noted that global spending on research and development amounts to nearly $3 trillion annually.
He further pointed out that startups specializing in artificial intelligence attracted nearly one-third of global venture capital investments in 2024, in a context of increasing global connectivity, with around six billion people connected to the Internet, including 1.2 billion young people shaping the future of the digital economy.
The Qatari Prime Minister also underlined the country’s competitive advantages in supporting innovation, notably its advanced global connectivity network, submarine cable-based digital infrastructure, high-performance computing capabilities, and a secure and efficient financial environment conducive to capital growth.
Web Summit Qatar 2026 stands out as a major global technology event and a reference platform for networking, cooperation, and the exchange of ideas in innovation and technology.
