Morocco and Denmark on Friday reaffirmed the strong and strategic nature of their bilateral relations, marked by sustained momentum and a shared commitment to elevating their partnership to a strategic level.

The commitment was expressed during a meeting in Copenhagen between Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, and Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Denmark’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The two ministers highlighted the historic, excellent and strategic nature of relations between the two countries and agreed on a visit to Morocco by the Danish Foreign Minister, with the aim of concluding a strategic partnership focused on strengthening political dialogue.

Lars Løkke Rasmussen stressed the importance of the partnership between Denmark and Morocco, describing the Kingdom as a “reliable partner” and a “gateway for growth and development” in the region and across Africa.

Economic and Trade Cooperation

The new Morocco-Denmark partnership will also seek to strengthen economic and trade ties across several key sectors, including water technologies, renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, agriculture and agri-food, as well as infrastructure.

The two ministers also highlighted the importance of Danish investments in Morocco and agreed to further promote contacts between businesses and the private sector through the establishment of a Morocco-Denmark Business Council.

Migration as Another Key Area

The future strategic partnership will also include a migration component, aimed at consolidating the already strong cooperation between the two countries in this field and further strengthening it through appropriate mechanisms and tools.

The new momentum in Morocco-Denmark relations is expected to deepen political dialogue while opening up additional opportunities for economic cooperation, investment and business partnerships between the two countries.
