Abdellatif Jouahri, Governor of Bank Al-Maghrib, has been ranked among the 25 best central bank governors worldwide in 2026, according to the annual ranking published by specialized magazine Global Finance.
Jouahri, the only representative from North Africa featured in the ranking, received an “A-” rating in the 2026 Central Banker Report Cards, an annual assessment evaluating the performance of central bank heads from nearly 100 countries, territories and monetary unions worldwide.
The distinction places the Governor of Bank Al-Maghrib among a select group of monetary policymakers recognized for the quality of their management and their ability to preserve economic and financial stability amid a global environment marked by significant uncertainty.
Published annually since 1994, Global Finance’s ranking grades central bank governors on a scale ranging from “A+” to “F”, based on several criteria.
These include their ability to control inflation, support economic growth objectives, maintain currency stability, manage interest rates and preserve the independence of their central banks.
Jouahri’s recognition highlights the international standing of Bank Al-Maghrib and reflects the Moroccan central bank’s role in maintaining monetary and financial stability in a challenging global economic environment.
