Greener Industrial Parks: Morocco Builds a Stronger, Sustainable Industry

Morocco has taken a major step toward a more sustainable industry with the launch of the Global Eco-Industrial Parks Programme (GEIPP II) in Rabat. The signing ceremony brought together H.E. Valentin Zellweger, Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Commerce, and Sanae Lahlou, UNIDO representative in Morocco.

The program will support six pilot zones in their transition to ecoindustrial practices, promoting modernization and sustainability in Moroccan industrial parks. It will assist 650 companies, representing around 60,000 jobs, while aiming for an annual reduction of 3,000 tons of CO₂ and the mobilization of €2 million in investments.

The signatories emphasized that this initiative embodies a shared vision for a competitive, job-creating, environmentally responsible Moroccan industry. Through GEIPP II, the country’s industrial parks will become competitive, sustainable spaces driving a sustainable industry.

By focusing on ecological innovation and environmental responsibility, Morocco strengthens its ability to combine economic performance with ecological transition, paving the way for a future-oriented industrial model.
