Morocco Returns to GMT+1: Clock Change on March 22

Morocco will return to its standard GMT+1 time in the night from Saturday 21 to Sunday 22 March 2026. At 2:00 AM, clocks must be advanced one hour, in accordance with Decree No. 2.18.855 of 2018.

This shift back to normal time follows the holy month of Ramadan, during which the Kingdom switched to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) on 15 February. The change aims to realign daily life rhythms with the end of the fasting period.

Annual Time Change Context

Since 2018, Morocco maintains GMT+1 year-round with a temporary suspension only during Ramadan. This system aligns prayer times and work schedules with the requirements of the holy month before reverting to standard time.

Authorities remind citizens to adjust watches, smartphones, and electronic devices promptly. The last change to GMT occurred on 15 February at 3:00 AM.

Alignment with Aïd al-Fitr

This announcement coincides with Eid al-Fitr expected on 20 or 21 March, followed by the exceptional holiday on Monday 23 March for public administrations. Companies and institutions are urged to plan ahead to avoid disruptions in transport and services.
