The National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) has reached a new strategic milestone in strengthening Morocco’s national electricity transmission network. On Sunday, December 28, 2025, the public utility energized the 400 kV double-circuit high-voltage line connecting Sidi Bennour to Laâwamer.
Stretching over 98 kilometers, this new infrastructure is part of ONEE’s extensive investment program aimed at securing and modernizing the national grid while increasing the capacity to transmit electricity across different regions of the Kingdom.
A Structuring Investment
The construction of this high-voltage line required substantial human and technical resources, with a total investment exceeding 184 million Moroccan dirhams. This financial effort reflects the importance of ensuring reliable, high-performance, and resilient electricity transmission in response to the continuous growth in energy demand.
A Lever for the Energy Transition
Beyond its technical role, the commissioning of this line fully aligns with Morocco’s efforts to develop and modernize its national electricity transmission network, essential to supporting the country’s energy transition. The project will notably improve the integration of renewable energy and optimize electricity flows nationwide.
ONEE’s Commitment Reaffirmed
Through this new infrastructure, ONEE reaffirms its commitment to providing a modern, sustainable electricity service that meets Morocco’s future needs. Strategically, this positions the national electricity grid as a key pillar of the Kingdom’s economic and industrial development.
