The Council of the Casablanca-Settat approved, on Monday in Casablanca, during its ordinary March session, a series of major economic and social development projects aimed at strengthening territorial attractiveness and improving citizens’ living conditions.
The session, chaired by Abdellatif Maâzouz, President of the Regional Council, and attended in particular by the Wali of the region, Mohamed Mhidia, was marked by the review and adoption of several agreements and amendments under the implementation of the 2022–2027 Regional Development Program.
Industrial and Logistics Zones: A Driver for Employment
On the economic front, the Council approved a partnership agreement for the development of an economic and logistics activity zone in the commune of Ouled Saleh, in Nouaceur Province.
Two framework partnership agreements were also endorsed for the implementation of the “Ouled Saleh” Industrial Acceleration Zone project and the “Ouled Azzouz” Industrial Zone project, further consolidating the region’s industrial vocation and its position as a major investment hub.
Council members also adopted a memorandum of understanding on technical assistance for the management of strategic projects linked to the organization of the FIFA World Cup 2030 in the Casablanca-Settat region.
Healthcare and Social Services: Improving Access
On the social front, the Council approved a partnership agreement for the construction and equipment of a reproductive health reference center in the commune of Médiouna.
Additional agreements concern the construction of the provincial hospital center in Sidi Bernoussi, training programs for young people with autism from underprivileged families, and support for hemodialysis centers in Benslimane and Bouznika, as well as the addiction treatment center and the psychiatric diseases center in Benslimane.
These projects aim to bring medical and social services closer to citizens and reduce territorial disparities in access to healthcare.
Infrastructure and Digital Transformation
As part of accelerating integrated and sustainable regional development, the Council approved amendments to certain agreements to speed up their implementation.
These include public lighting works on Taddart Road linking the Green City of Bouskoura to Mohammed V International Airport, the organization of digital sector events, and support for youth training in digital technologies.
The session also approved the allocation of the remaining budget surplus for the 2025 fiscal year.
Over 55% Completion Rate
On this occasion, Mr. Maâzouz stated that the adopted projects primarily target sectors with a direct impact on territorial equity and job creation, particularly the strengthening of the economy, entrepreneurship, and social, sports, and cultural dynamics.
The session remains open, as the item concerning the election of delegates representing the Regional Council within the “Attaâdoud” group of local authorities, responsible for managing Al Ihssane cemetery in Médiouna Province, has been postponed.
Finally, a report on the progress of the 2022–2027 Regional Development Program as of the end of February 2026 indicated a completion rate exceeding 55%, covering the various areas of regional intervention.
