Hydrogen: NamX secures European patent for its interchangeable capsule technology

NamX, the startup founded by Faouzi Annajah, announced on Thursday, May 14, that it has been granted a patent by the European Patent Office covering its hydrogen capsule technology. The automotive project is now entering a new phase focused on industrialization and the search for new investors.

NamX confirmed the official issuance of a European patent for its hydrogen capsule technology, designed to power vehicles as well as other industrial applications.

The information was made public by Faouzi Annajah in a LinkedIn post, alongside a notification from the European Patent Office. The document refers to the granting of European patent No. 4511247 to Annajah Motors, the entity associated with the NamX project.

The application was filed on April 20, 2023, claiming priority from April 21, 2022. The official mention of the grant is scheduled for publication in the European Patent Bulletin on May 20, 2026. According to the notice, the patent covers designated contracting states including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Switzerland.

In his message, Faouzi Annajah referred to “four years of a long and complex process” and “hundreds of thousands of euros invested” to protect the technology internationally.

The NamX project is based on a hydrogen-powered vehicle integrating removable and refillable capsules, designed as an alternative to traditional refueling infrastructure. The brand has already showcased its concept vehicle in several public demonstrations, including in Morocco.

Faouzi Annajah also notes that the technology has a “multimodal” potential, with applications beyond the automotive sector. The company also plans to open its capital to new investors in order to accelerate its market deployment.

For NamX, the granting of this patent now shifts the focus toward industrialization, partnership building, and turning this protected technology into a deployable solution.
