Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, held talks on Tuesday in Accra with Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, on the sidelines of the second session of the Morocco-Ghana Joint Cooperation Commission. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral economic cooperation and promoting mutual investment opportunities.
The two ministers welcomed the significant progress achieved in bilateral relations since the official visit of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to Ghana in February 2017. They also praised the growing presence of Moroccan companies in Ghana, particularly in the banking, housing and infrastructure sectors.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to encouraging Ghanaian investment in Morocco while strengthening reciprocal investment flows and public-private partnerships. They identified green energy, logistics and the digital economy among the priority sectors for future cooperation.
The ministers also expressed their shared ambition to broaden bilateral cooperation into additional strategic areas, including industry, hydrocarbons and mining, energy efficiency, customs cooperation, postal services and agriculture.
On the trade front, Morocco and Ghana agreed to encourage business missions, B2B meetings, trade fairs and exhibitions to boost commercial exchanges and improve the trade balance between the two countries.
To support these efforts, the two ministers agreed to organize, on a rotating basis, a Ghana–Morocco Economic and Investment Forum, led by the private sector, to promote business partnerships and unlock new investment opportunities.
