China – US Relations: Beijing Announces “Countermeasures” After New American Sanctions

China announced on Wednesday the implementation of several “countermeasures” against the United States in response to American sanctions targeting Chinese companies, including measures related to forced labor and national security concerns.

In a statement, a spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Commerce said that Beijing “has no choice but to take necessary countermeasures” in response to these actions.

The new tensions come as economic and trade relations between the world’s two largest economies continue to be marked by persistent disputes, particularly over strategic technologies, economic security, and supply chains.

Chinese authorities have not immediately provided details of all the measures being considered, but the announcement highlights the continuation of diplomatic and trade frictions between Washington and Beijing.

The US sanctions notably affect China’s humanoid robotics sector, amid growing competition between the two countries over emerging technologies and their industrial development.
