Morocco Strengthens Its Industrial Attractiveness

Morocco is continuing to expand its industrial offering with more than 15,000 hectares of developed industrial land and around 150 industrial zones. A new phase is now being prepared with a national forum dedicated to industrial zones.

The objective is to strengthen the attractiveness of Morocco’s industrial platforms and support investors in their projects. Authorities also aim to improve the governance and sustainability of industrial zones to meet the growing requirements of companies.

Industrial land has expanded significantly in recent years. It represented around 10,000 hectares in 2021 and now exceeds 15,000 hectares, while an additional 7,000 hectares are planned.

A lever for African value chains

The development of industrial zones is supporting Morocco’s growing presence in several export-oriented sectors. Automotive, aerospace, electronics, agri-food and chemicals are among the industries that can benefit from this infrastructure.

The upcoming forum is also expected to encourage dialogue between investors, zone managers and public-sector stakeholders. The challenge therefore goes beyond land availability to include the integration of Moroccan companies into regional and international value chains.
