U.S. President Donald Trump announced Sunday the creation of a new federal structure, called the “Super Intelligence Force” (SIF), tasked with coordinating government efforts to maintain the United States’ leadership in the field of “Super Intelligence,” the new term for artificial intelligence adopted by the U.S. administration.
In a post published on his Truth Social network, Trump said the entity would coordinate the work of various federal agencies with consumers, public-interest groups, religious organizations, critical infrastructure operators and technology companies.
The SIF’s mission is to “coordinate the federal government’s efforts to ensure that America maintains its global leadership in the field of super intelligence,” Trump wrote.
He said the technology was “more important than the Industrial Revolution or the advent of the Internet.”
The task force will be headed by the Director of National Intelligence, Jay Clayton, and will report directly to the U.S. president and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.
The announcement comes days after a White House summit that brought together leading figures from the technology sector. At the conclusion of the meeting, several companies signed a commitment described by the U.S. president as a “morally binding agreement” on the development of the technology.
