FBR CABLES Opens New Industrial Unit in Berrechid for Fiber Optic and Network Cables

FBR CABLES inaugurated its new industrial facility for the production of fiber optic (FO) and network cables on Monday, February 23, 2026, in Berrechid, in the presence of Ryad Mezzour.

The new facility, built with a total investment of 200 million dirhams, covers an area of 15,000 m² and centralizes all of the company’s operations. It is expected to create 165 direct jobs. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the plant will have an annual production capacity of 70,000 km of fiber optic cables, aiming to cover 60% of Morocco’s market demand, estimated at 120,000–130,000 km per year.

During the inauguration, the Minister highlighted:

“The opening of this 100% Moroccan fiber optic cable production unit is a strategic milestone for our industrial and digital sovereignty. It strengthens ‘Made in Morocco’, doubles our national production capacity, and positions the Kingdom as a regional export hub to Africa. This investment reflects our ambition to consolidate Moroccan industrial know-how, support the country’s digitalization, and ensure technological autonomy in next-generation telecommunications infrastructure.”

This project confirms FBR CABLES’ strategic role as Morocco’s leading manufacturer and the largest player in the African sector, contributing to the development of national telecommunications infrastructure. Historically dependent on imports, the domestic market now benefits from a competitive local alternative that meets advanced technological standards.

With this new facility, FBR CABLES positions itself as a key pillar of Morocco’s digital industrial ecosystem and a major driver of the Kingdom’s technological development, in line with the Royal Guidelines and the New Development Model.

The Moroccan fiber optic cable market is experiencing strong growth, driven by the accelerated deployment of high-speed networks (4G, 5G, FTTH) and the Kingdom’s commitment to strengthening digital sovereignty. National consumption is estimated at around 4 million fiber-km, with FBR CABLES supplying approximately 30% of this demand.

Fiber optic infrastructure has become as strategic as electricity or water, forming an essential pillar of digital transformation, especially following the Covid-19 crisis, which accelerated the need for high-speed connectivity and digitalized services.
