“ITRI” the star of African football: the official ball of AFCON Morocco 2025

The African Football Confederation (CAF) and its official partner PUMA unveiled the official ball of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), named “ITRI”, on November 10, 2025—a name full of symbolism and identity.

A name full of light and pride

“ITRI” means star in the Amazigh language. This choice pays tribute to Morocco’s cultural and national identity, the host country of this edition of AFCON. The star, a central element of the Moroccan flag, symbolizes light, guidance, and excellence—values CAF wanted to highlight for this continental competition.

A design inspired by Moroccan zellige

The design of the “ITRI” ball blends tradition and modernity. It draws inspiration from Moroccan zellige, a centuries-old decorative art made of geometric mosaics, emblematic of the Kingdom’s architectural heritage. The interlaced star patterns recall the elegance of Morocco’s medinas while representing the radiance of African football.

The color palette—white, red, and green—echoes the Moroccan flag, while golden accents symbolize the glory of sport and Africa’s ambition to shine on the global stage.

Cutting-edge technology for a top-level tournament

Manufactured using PUMA’s latest “Orbita 6” technology, the ball offers improved aerodynamic stability, enhanced precision, and better control in all playing conditions.

It has been tested at several African technical centers, including the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maâmora, ensuring it meets FIFA’s international performance standards.

A celebration of Africa and Morocco

The ball was unveiled in a festive ceremony in Casablanca, attended by CAF officials, representatives from the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), and PUMA.

For CAF, “ITRI” is more than just a ball: it represents the rebirth of African football and the continent’s spirit of unity around an event that Morocco aims to make truly memorable.

This 35th edition of AFCON will take place from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, across major cities including Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, Agadir, Fes, and Tangier.

A symbol before kickoff

By placing Amazigh culture and Moroccan art at the heart of its visual identity, “ITRI” reflects a Morocco proud of its diversity and looking toward the future.

For fans and players alike, it will become more than a ball: a true lucky star for AFCON 2025, symbolizing a continent shining brightly on the world stage.
