Morocco a “Key Partner” for Germany, Says German Agriculture Minister

Morocco is a significant partner for Germany, as well as for the European Union, particularly in sectors such as agriculture, German Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture Cem Özdemir said in Berlin.

Speaking after bilateral talks with Morocco’s Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, Ahmed El Bouari, Özdemir praised the “very strong friendship and partnership” between the two countries, grounded in equality and cooperation across ministries.

The two officials signed a joint declaration establishing a Morocco–Germany working group to strengthen collaboration on food and agricultural issues. This initiative was made in the context of Morocco’s participation in Berlin’s Green Week, one of the world’s largest events focused on food, agriculture and horticulture. Le Matin.ma

Minister Özdemir also highlighted the high level of experience and exchange between Moroccan and German agricultural experts as part of efforts to “take these relations to a higher level and move forward together.”

The German minister’s remarks reflect the broader deepening of bilateral ties, which have recently advanced through expanded development cooperation programs, financing agreements, and strategic dialogues covering sectors such as climate policy, renewable energy, infrastructure and economic development.

Germany continues to view Morocco as a strategic and reliable partner across multiple domains, from agricultural cooperation and food security to development projects and climate initiatives, underlining the growing importance of the Morocco–Germany relationship on both regional and international levels.
