The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, held talks on Monday at the House headquarters in Rabat with the Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, who is paying a working visit to the Kingdom.
On this occasion, Talbi Alami briefed the Pakistani parliamentary delegation on the major development projects undertaken by Morocco under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, as well as on the Royal initiatives launched at the African level, particularly the Atlantic Initiative.
He also presented the latest developments regarding the Moroccan Sahara issue in light of UN Security Council Resolution 2797, which recognizes the relevance, credibility, and realism of the Autonomy Plan under Moroccan sovereignty. In this context, he stressed the importance of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of States, refraining from interference in their internal affairs, and adhering to international law.
According to Talbi Alami, the visit of his Pakistani counterpart and the accompanying delegation will help boost bilateral and multilateral parliamentary relations.
For his part, Ayaz Sadiq welcomed the visit, highlighting the strength and depth of the historical ties between the two countries and expressing Pakistan’s willingness to further develop economic, trade, and tourism exchanges with Morocco.
He also underscored the importance of strengthening the exchange of parliamentary expertise and enhancing coordination within international parliamentary bodies. To this end, he extended an official invitation to Talbi Alami to pay a working visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to explore prospects for expanding bilateral relations.
The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Morocco–Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group, Driss Echchbchali, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Rabat, Adil Gilani, along with members of the Pakistani parliamentary delegation.
