The head coach of Spain’s national team, Luis de la Fuente, emphasized that Morocco is emerging as one of the serious contenders for the world title at the 2026 World Cup, praising the steady progress and high level reached by Moroccan football.
“No major national team will be absent from the title race, whether it’s Brazil, Argentina, Germany, France, Portugal, or Morocco,” the Spanish coach said in an interview with the sports daily AS.
Luis de la Fuente notably highlighted “the richness and quality of the talent pool” available to the Kingdom, recalling that the national team was recently crowned under-20 world champion.
He also praised the strong presence of Moroccan players in the most prestigious leagues, which he considers an indicator of the maturity and growing influence of national football.
While acknowledging the tough competition ahead, the Roja coach assured that his team “will fight to win the trophy,” expressing confidence in the potential and solidity of his squad.
The Spanish coach said that the next World Cup will bring together an exceptionally high-level group of contenders, reflecting the increased competitiveness of football on a global scale.
