Ramadan: 4,038 Violations Recorded After More Than 43,000 Market Inspection Operations

Local monitoring committees carried out 43,412 inspection operations nationwide from the 1st of Chaâbane to the 6th of Ramadan, resulting in the detection of 4,038 violations.

Speaking at a press briefing following the Government Council meeting, the government spokesperson stated that the committees, chaired by the Ministry of the Interior at the prefectural and provincial levels, intensified oversight efforts to ensure proper market functioning during the holy month of Ramadan.

Out of the total violations recorded, 1,101 led to formal warnings, while 2,937 resulted in official reports submitted to the competent courts. The operations also led to the seizure and destruction of approximately 273 tons of products deemed unfit for consumption or non-compliant with current regulatory standards.

The spokesperson further emphasized that national markets remain adequately supplied with essential goods that are widely consumed during Ramadan. He noted that the weekly coordination meeting involving the relevant departments aims to ensure continuous monitoring of market conditions, particularly with regard to supply, pricing, and inspection activities.

One week after the beginning of the holy month, data provided by the various departments confirm that markets across the country are normally supplied, with sufficient quantities of essential food products available under usual conditions.
