Royal Air Maroc: First African Airline to Integrate Starlink

Royal Air Maroc will begin deploying Starlink Wi-Fi on board its aircraft at the beginning of 2027. The installation will be carried out gradually across the entire fleet to ensure operational continuity.

Once the system has been installed, Royal Air Maroc passengers will benefit from high-speed Internet access, allowing them to stream content, communicate, work in real time and stay connected throughout their flight.

According to Hamid Addou, chairman and chief executive officer of Royal Air Maroc, the agreement reflects the airline’s ambition to offer passengers a travel experience that meets the highest international standards.

“By choosing the fastest Wi-Fi in the sky, we are taking a decisive step in transforming our customer experience and reaffirming Royal Air Maroc’s mission to connect Africa, Europe and the rest of the world with the highest level of excellence,” he said.

He added that this ambition forms part of a multi-year plan covering fleet renewal, cabin redesign and a complete modernization of the customer experience, both on the ground and on board.

Lauren Dreyer, Starlink’s vice president of commercial operations at SpaceX, said Royal Air Maroc’s decision to introduce Starlink across its fleet marked an important milestone for aviation in Africa.

She noted that, by becoming the first airline on the continent to offer the technology, Royal Air Maroc would allow its passengers to enjoy the high-speed, low-latency connectivity already transforming air travel on other continents.

On-board connectivity is a key element of Royal Air Maroc’s customer-experience strategy. Through this new service, the Moroccan national carrier aims to meet the growing demand for continuous connectivity among a diverse customer base, including business travellers, members of the diaspora, students and tourists.

With Starlink, Royal Air Maroc is strengthening its position as a pioneer in the development of African aviation. By placing next-generation connectivity at the heart of its offering, the airline is helping build a more modern and competitive African aviation industry focused on excellence.
