Royal Air Maroc Opens New Direct Route Between Brussels and Tétouan

Royal Air Maroc inaugurated on Friday a new direct air route connecting Brussels to Tétouan, marking a further step in strengthening air connectivity between Morocco and Belgium.

The inaugural flight, scheduled twice a week (Mondays and Fridays), departed from Brussels Airport Zaventem at 12:15 p.m. bound for Tétouan–Sania R’mel Airport. The new service aims to enhance accessibility to northern Morocco while boosting its tourism and economic appeal.

A reception was held in the departure area of Brussels Airport, attended by members of the Moroccan community in Belgium as well as Belgian travelers heading to northern Morocco.

The ceremony took place in the presence of the Moroccan Ambassador to Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Mohamed Ameur, alongside representatives of Royal Air Maroc and officials from Brussels Airport.

Speaking on the occasion, Ameur described the launch as “excellent news,” emphasizing that the route represents more than just a flight connection, as it strengthens human and cultural ties between the two countries.

He noted that the new service will facilitate travel for Moroccans living in Belgium—many of whom originate from northern regions—while also promoting tourism in an area rich in historical and cultural heritage.

For his part, Royal Air Maroc’s Regional Director for the Benelux, Mohamed Issam Mosseddaq, said the new route enhances the airline’s regional network and complements existing services from Brussels to Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, Nador, and Tangier.

The new connection is also expected to stimulate tourism by enabling Belgian tour operators to offer travel packages to Tétouan and nearby destinations.

To support the launch, Royal Air Maroc rolled out a month-long promotional campaign, including targeted advertising in metro stations near Moroccan communities, visuals on Brussels trams, and radio spots.
