The meeting was organized by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio with the goal of discussing how to secure and diversify global supply chains for critical minerals — materials essential for advanced technologies like electric vehicle batteries, renewable energy systems, and high-tech manufacturing.

Ministers and senior officials from more than 50 countries took part, including representatives from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, France, Germany, the UK, Japan, India, Australia, and others.

During the event, a new initiative called the “Forum on Geostrategic Engagement in the Minerals and Resources Sector” was launched to foster ongoing international collaboration.
In essence, the meeting was a high‑level diplomatic effort to strengthen cooperation on securing supply chains for materials that are pivotal for future technology and economic competitiveness.
