Ross McInnes: “Morocco, a Strategic Country for Safran” with New Landing Gear Factory in Nouaceur

Morocco has reinforced its position as a leading aerospace industrial hub. Ross McInnes, Chairman of the Board of the French group Safran, highlighted that the Kingdom is a strategic country for Safran, citing its modern infrastructure, stable macroeconomic framework, and recognized talent.

Speaking at the launch ceremony for a new landing gear production facility in Nouaceur, presided over by His Majesty King Mohammed VI at the Royal Palace in Casablanca, McInnes stressed that Safran’s 25-year historical presence in Morocco demonstrates its commitment to expanding investment in the Kingdom.

A World-Class Industrial Platform

The new facility, one of the largest in the world for landing gear and aerospace equipment, will feature cutting-edge production tools and high-tech processes. It is designed to support the ramp-up of the Airbus A320 production and prepare for the next generation of short- and medium-haul aircraft.

With around ten existing sites in Morocco, Safran places the Kingdom at the heart of its global production network, covering key activities such as engine maintenance, wiring, nacelle manufacturing, engine assembly, and landing gear production.

A Strategic and Sustainable Investment

The €280 million project will create 500 jobs at full capacity and run entirely on decarbonized energy. Beyond direct employment, it will foster the Moroccan industrial ecosystem by integrating new local suppliers.

McInnes also recalled the launch last October of Safran’s aircraft engine complex, praising Morocco’s industrial momentum and the support of His Majesty. He affirmed Safran’s commitment to continuing this technological journey in the Kingdom and producing critical aircraft systems such as landing gear.
