Morocco’s Ambassador to Spain, Karima Benyaich, reaffirmed on Wednesday in Madrid the Kingdom’s strategic commitment, under the guidance of Mohammed VI, to a secure, inclusive, and human-centered digital transition.

Speaking at the Pre-Ministerial Summit on Piracy, Cybersecurity, and Justice, where Morocco was the guest of honor, the ambassador highlighted concrete progress achieved by the Kingdom, including the modernization of technological infrastructures and the implementation of national cybersecurity strategies. These efforts have enabled Morocco to rank 34th globally on the Global Cybersecurity Index, consolidating its position as a regional leader.

Ambassador Benyaich also emphasized that these reforms have strengthened the Kingdom’s attractiveness to international investors, thanks to a strategic vision aimed at reinforcing political stability and ensuring legal security, which are essential pillars of economic development.

She highlighted Morocco’s sectoral performance, noting that the Kingdom is among the world’s leading automobile producers and holds a strong position in the aerospace and defense industries. She also pointed out that Morocco is the top investor in sub-Saharan Africa and the second largest on the continent, demonstrating the effectiveness of a development model based on a clear and proactive political vision.

Benyaich cautioned, however, that while new technologies offer significant opportunities, they also present global challenges requiring enhanced international cooperation and adaptive public policies. She stressed the crucial role of the state in guiding these changes and called for an ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence.

Highlighting Morocco’s identity rooted in openness and religious tolerance, the ambassador recalled the role of Mohammed VI, Amir Al-Mouminine, as guarantor of freedom of worship, reflecting harmonious coexistence within the Kingdom and serving as a bridge between the West and the Arab-Muslim world.

On this occasion, Ambassador Benyaich received an award recognizing Morocco’s sustained commitment to digital transformation and cybersecurity, showcasing the Royal strategic vision and major reforms implemented to position the Kingdom as a leading technological hub.

Meanwhile, Vice President of the International Union of Magistrates (UIM), Mohamed Redouane, highlighted the strategic importance of judicial challenges in the digital era, emphasizing the key role of justice in ensuring legal security amid emerging forms of cybercrime. He called for modernization of the judicial system, consolidation of judicial independence, and faster procedures, noting that adapting to technological changes has become an essential lever for digital transformation.

The summit brought together judicial officials, regulators, and institutional representatives, notably from Latin America, to discuss the integration of new technologies in the justice sector. Discussions focused on international dialogue regarding justice and cybersecurity, technological governance, digital regulation, and the fight against cybercrime.
