His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid chaired, on Monday at Mechouar Stinia–Sahrij Souani in Meknès, the opening ceremony of the 18th edition of the International Agricultural Show in Morocco (SIAM), held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, from 20 to 28 April, under the theme “Sustainability of Animal Production and Food Sovereignty.”
This inauguration reflects the continued attention given by the Sovereign to the agricultural sector, a key pillar of the national economy, and underscores Morocco’s commitment to addressing food security challenges, sustainable development, and climate change adaptation.
Upon his arrival, Prince Moulay Rachid reviewed a detachment of Auxiliary Forces who rendered honors before being greeted by several Moroccan and foreign officials, including Sara Bent Bandar Bin Abdelaziz Al Saud, Executive Director of the International Dates Council, as well as territorial authorities and key stakeholders in the agricultural sector.
The opening ceremony featured the presentation of quality and origin awards to representatives of cooperatives and agricultural groups, highlighting Morocco’s local products and enhancing their competitiveness in both national and international markets.
Guest of honor for this edition, Portugal reflects the strong agricultural cooperation ties with Morocco. The exhibition also hosts numerous international delegations, confirming its growing global outreach.
Spread over 37 hectares, SIAM 2026 brings together more than 1,500 exhibitors and is expected to welcome over 1.1 million visitors. Over the years, it has established itself as a major platform for professionals, policymakers, and partners in the agricultural sector.
Through its various thematic areas, the exhibition showcases technological innovation, livestock sector development, and the promotion of sustainable, resilient, and competitive agriculture, in line with Morocco’s strategic agricultural vision.
