The Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdessamad Kayouh, launched construction work on the new bus station in Kénitra during a ceremony held on Thursday.
Covering an area of four hectares, the project represents a new generation of transport infrastructure designed to meet growing mobility needs in Morocco’s rapidly expanding urban centers.
Developed in partnership with the Ministry of Interior, the National Company for Transport and Logistics (SNTL), and other stakeholders, the station is strategically located near the highway and the city’s railway station, ensuring seamless multimodal connectivity.
The future facility will offer modern services including electronic ticketing, commercial spaces, and green areas designed to improve passenger comfort and traffic flow.
Architecturally, the project is based on a circular design symbolizing travel, orientation, and movement. A key innovation is that buses will be handled at underground level, reducing visual pollution and integrating the structure into its urban environment.
The design also emphasizes environmental performance through natural lighting, vegetation, and passive thermal comfort systems.
Similar to the modern bus stations in Rabat and Tangier, the Kénitra station aims to meet international standards in safety, comfort, and service quality.
