Truth Social, the social media platform created by Donald Trump, is set to launch a new paid service on August 1 that will provide priority and real-time access to posts from major accounts on the platform.
The service, developed by Trump Media & Technology Group, will take the form of an automated interface known as an API (Application Programming Interface). It is designed primarily for traders, financial institutions and media organizations that closely monitor Donald Trump’s posts, which can sometimes have immediate effects on financial markets and international affairs.
According to Trump Media, the new tool will provide “authorized and real-time access” to publications from influential Truth Social accounts, allowing professional users to receive updates with minimal delay.
Trump Media’s acting chief executive officer Kevin McGurn said the move responds to growing demand from market participants, noting that “markets already move based on posts on Truth Social.”
The announcement has drawn criticism from some US lawmakers. Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren criticized the initiative, arguing that it represents an attempt to profit from the presidency and provide advantages to financial players without benefiting ordinary Americans.
Donald Trump launched Truth Social after he was banned from Twitter, now known as X, following the January 2021 Capitol attack carried out by some of his supporters who rejected the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.
Since then, the platform has become Trump’s main channel for political announcements and public statements. The decision to commercialize faster access to his posts has raised questions about the intersection between political influence, business interests and the monetization of presidential communication.
An API allows different computer systems to communicate automatically, enabling users to receive data instantly and potentially trigger automated responses based on new posts. Similar services are already offered by other social media platforms, including X.
