Acting on the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates Nasser Bourita arrived in Cali, Colombia, on Thursday to represent the Sovereign at the inauguration ceremony of Colombia’s newly elected president, Abelardo De la Espriella.
Upon his arrival, Bourita was welcomed by the Governor of Valle del Cauca, Dilia Francisca Toro, the Mayor of Santiago de Cali, Alvaro Alejandro Eder, and Morocco’s Ambassador to Colombia, Farida Loudaya.
The inauguration follows Colombia’s presidential election held in June 2026, which recorded strong voter turnout. President-elect Abelardo De la Espriella succeeds the outgoing head of state in a historic ceremony held outside the capital, Bogotá, for the first time.
Morocco’s participation in the ceremony underscores the Kingdom’s commitment to strengthening its bilateral relations with Colombia and expanding cooperation across various fields.
