2026-2027 School Year: Morocco Confirms Official Back-to-School Dates

The 2026-2027 school year will begin according to the official schedule previously set by Morocco’s Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, in accordance with Ministerial Order No. 047.26 of July 3, 2026, concerning the organization of the school year.

In a statement, the ministry said that education and administrative staff will return to their workplaces at the beginning of September, ahead of the phased return of students to schools.

Administrative staff to return on September 1

Staff members belonging to the educational administration and management corps, as well as inspection, supervision, monitoring and evaluation personnel and education administrators, will return to their posts on September 1, 2026.

The day will notably be dedicated to signing official records confirming their return to service.

Teaching staff, along with teacher-researchers in education and training, will return to their schools on September 2 to complete the same administrative procedures.

Students to return gradually from September 3

The return of students will take place progressively according to their grade levels.

On September 3, schools will welcome preschool children, as well as students in the first and second years of primary education. The first year of lower secondary education and students in the common-core classes of upper secondary education will also return on this date.

On September 4, students in the third and fourth years of primary education, the second year of lower secondary education and the first year of the baccalaureate will return to school.

On September 5, schools will welcome students in the fifth and sixth years of primary education, the third year of lower secondary education and the second year of the baccalaureate.

Classes to officially begin on September 7

The effective and compulsory start of classes across all education cycles and levels is scheduled for September 7, 2026.

For non-formal education classes and the “Second Chance” program, classes will begin on October 5, 2026.

Ministry calls for collective mobilization

As the new school year approaches, the Ministry of National Education is calling on educational and administrative stakeholders, families and partners to work together to ensure a successful start to the academic year.

The ministry also stressed the importance of maintaining school and learning time for the benefit of all students across all education cycles and institutions.

The calendar established under Ministerial Order No. 047.26 therefore remains the official reference for the organization of the 2026-2027 school year.
