U.S. President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt will leave her position “at the end of the month” to devote more time to her family.

“Our tremendous White House Press Secretary, and one of my closest aides, Karoline Leavitt, will be leaving her position at the end of the month so that she can spend more time with her wonderful young children and family, a decision that I fully understand and respect!” the U.S. president wrote on his Truth Social platform.

Trump also said that Leavitt will henceforth serve as one of his key external advisers and remain an influential voice within the Republican Party.

For her part, Karoline Leavitt described the decision as “bittersweet” in a separate post on X, saying she was “incredibly grateful” to the U.S. president and confirming that she would serve as an external adviser in the future.

“Serving as White House Press Secretary over the past year and a half has been an unforgettable honor and adventure,” wrote Leavitt, who became the youngest person ever to hold the position.

She explained that being a mother while holding one of the most demanding positions in the world had been both a rewarding and challenging experience, prompting her “bittersweet” decision to leave the White House and begin a new chapter in her life.

Already the mother of a son born in 2024, during Donald Trump’s election campaign, she gave birth to a daughter in early May.

Appointed to the key position at the age of 27, Leavitt became the youngest person to serve as White House Press Secretary. During Donald Trump’s first term (2017–2021), she served as Assistant White House Press Secretary.
