Morocco will be a major stopover of the 42nd edition of the Toulouse-Saint-Louis Senegal Air Rally, which will take off from Toulouse on September 19 for a nearly two-week journey retracing the footsteps of the pioneers of the Aéropostale.

Fourteen aircraft and as many crews from France and several European countries will take part in the adventure, covering more than 10,000 kilometers over 14 stages.

A large part of the route will take the participants across Morocco, with numerous stopovers planned both on the outward and return journeys. After an initial stage in Alicante, Spain, the crews will enter Morocco on September 20, with successive stops in Tetouan and Rabat.

They will then continue towards Agadir and Tan-Tan, before heading to Laayoune and Dakhla, and then on to Mauritania and Saint-Louis, Senegal.

On the return journey, the rally will once again cross Morocco, with stopovers planned in Dakhla, Laayoune, Tarfaya, Tan-Tan, Ouarzazate and Fez, before heading back through Spain to Toulouse on October 2.

Among these stages, Tarfaya, formerly known as Cap Juby, will hold a special place in the 2026 edition. Participants will mark the centenary of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s arrival on the Latécoère Line there on October 14, 1926.

The renowned pilot and writer spent 18 months in Cap Juby, where he found part of the inspiration for his first novel, Southern Mail (Courrier Sud).

Established in 1983, the Toulouse-Saint-Louis Senegal Air Rally presents itself as the world’s oldest and longest air rally. It offers participants a unique nearly two-week journey along the aerial route opened in 1918, following in the footsteps of the pioneers of airmail and the Aéropostale.
