Cameroon-based brokerage firm Africa Bright Securities is preparing a capital increase and the opening of a branch in Gabon. Both operations, approved in May 2026, remain subject to the regulatory procedures applicable to the CEMAC financial market.
Africa Bright Securities (ABS) is pursuing its regional expansion. The Douala-based brokerage firm approved two transactions on May 17, 2026, aimed at supporting its growth: a capital increase and the opening of a branch in Gabon.
The capital increase will require prior approval from the Central African Financial Market Supervisory Commission (COSUMAF). At this stage, the amount of the transaction, the identity of potential subscribers and the future ownership structure have not been disclosed.
ABS currently has share capital of CFAF 750 million, according to its corporate information.
A permanent presence in Gabon
The company also plans to establish a physical presence in Gabon. Management of the future branch is expected to be entrusted to Yves Martial Ntchoumou, Chief Executive Officer of Africa Bright Securities. No official opening date has yet been announced.
The move would extend ABS’s existing activities in the Gabonese market from its Douala base. In 2022, the company acted as arranger and lead manager for the CFAF 5 billion capital increase of Société Commerciale Gabonaise de Réassurance (SCG-Ré), an operation approved by COSUMAF in October of the same year.
A second foothold within CEMAC
Licensed by COSUMAF since July 15, 2020, under reference COSUMAF-SDB-02/2020, Africa Bright Securities is among the brokerage firms established in Cameroon.
The opening of a branch in Gabon would therefore mark a new stage in its regional development, shifting from cross-border transactions to a permanent presence in a second CEMAC market.
The move also follows a restructuring of the company’s governance. In December 2025, Africa Bright Securities announced the appointment of Narcisse Konan as Chairman of the Board and Yves Ntchoumou as Chief Executive Officer, effective October 1, 2025.
Transaction amount remains undisclosed
The capital increase is now one of the key elements awaiting clarification. Without details on its amount or the identity of the investors expected to participate, its precise financial objectives cannot yet be established.
The operation could strengthen ABS’s capital base and support its regional expansion, particularly through the planned establishment in Gabon. The next regulatory steps should provide further details on the scale and structure of the transaction.
