ASMEX: Sonia Mezzour Elected President of Moroccan Exporters Confederation

The Moroccan Association of Exporters (ASMEX) has elected Sonia Mezzour as its new president during its elective general assembly held on Tuesday in Casablanca. She succeeds Hassan Sentissi El Idrissi, who had led the confederation since 2013.

This appointment comes at a time of significant shifts in global trade, as Moroccan companies face increasing challenges related to competitiveness, market diversification, and evolving economic, regulatory, and environmental standards.

Previously serving as ASMEX vice-president and chair of the Finance, Insurance, and Monitoring Commission, Sonia Mezzour brings a vision focused on strengthening operational support for exporters. Her priorities include improving access to financing, enhancing risk coverage mechanisms, developing economic intelligence tools, and providing tailored solutions to meet exporters’ needs.

With a professional background spanning finance, investment, energy, and international trade, the new president aims to reinforce ASMEX’s role as a key platform supporting Moroccan companies operating in global markets.

Under her leadership, the confederation seeks to foster greater coordination among stakeholders in the export sector, with the goal of boosting the international presence of Moroccan products and services and contributing to the country’s economic outreach.
