Fez: A Tourist and Mobility Cable Car in the Pipeline

The city of Fez will soon be equipped with a complementary tourist and mobility cable car, intended in particular to offer a new panoramic experience over the Medina, improve access to its elevated heritage sites and contribute to diversifying tourist itineraries.

In this context, the Fès-Meknès Regional Investment Center (CRI) has launched a call for expressions of interest (AMI) aimed at identifying, preselecting and then selecting companies, investors and national or international groups interested in designing, building and operating the project.

Intended to provide an aerial link offering panoramic views over the Medina of Fez, the future cable car will also need to ensure heritage- and landscape-sensitive integration with the site and its surroundings.

Creating a new way of viewing the Medina from its surroundings is also one of the project’s objectives. It aims to promote a better distribution of tourist flows and strengthen complementarity with existing itineraries. The project must also guarantee universal accessibility, particularly for people with reduced mobility, and constitute infrastructure that can be operated in a sustainable and secure manner.

Structured in two successive phases, the AMI process begins with the preselection of candidates, based notably on their references, a technical feasibility file at the Preliminary Design stage and a preliminary financial feasibility study. The second phase will be devoted to the final selection of preselected candidates, based on a complete file.

According to the CRI, the deadline for submitting application files is set for January 9.
