Trump Stops in Ohio to Boost Republican Candidates Ahead of Midterms

US President Donald Trump traveled to Youngstown, Ohio, in the Midwest, on Monday to lend support to local Republican candidates, three weeks before the midterm elections scheduled for November 3.

Accompanied by former NFL coach Jon Gruden and boxer and influencer Jake Paul, both Ohio natives, Trump came to back two key candidates in the state: Republican Senator Jon Husted, who is locked in a close re-election race against Democrat Sherrod Brown, and Vivek Ramaswamy, the party’s candidate for governor, who is running against Democrat Amy Acton.

At a large rally, the Republican president reiterated his promise of a $5,000 bonus for Americans if their votes give Republicans a majority in the House of Representatives and Congress in the midterm elections.

The US chief executive also pledged that his administration would push through a “major health care plan” as well as executive orders to make access to health care far more affordable.

In addition, the White House occupant officially announced that the US Department of War has selected Cleveland, Ohio, as the site for an all-new repair center for components of American submarines.

During the event, Trump praised local Republican candidates at length ahead of the midterm elections, while criticizing national Democratic figures, including Representative Ilhan Omar, whose home was searched earlier in the day by federal agents.

The event concluded on a festive note, with the president encouraging Ohio residents to turn out in large numbers to vote for Republican candidates.
