United States: Donald Trump’s signature to appear on dollar banknotes

A historic shift in U.S. currency is underway. The signature of President Donald Trump will soon appear on American banknotes, according to an announcement by the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

The first $100 bills featuring this new signature are expected to be printed starting in June, before being gradually extended to all denominations in circulation.

Until now, and since 1861, only the Secretary of the Treasury and the Treasurer of the United States have signed U.S. banknotes. This decision therefore marks a break from a tradition that has lasted for more than a century and a half.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent welcomed the move, describing it as a powerful way to highlight both the country’s achievements and those of President Donald Trump.

This announcement is part of a broader series of measures aimed at leaving the president’s mark on several national symbols. On March 19, a federal fine arts commission approved the creation of a gold commemorative coin bearing his likeness.

In parallel, several public institutions have recently been renamed in his honor following his return to the White House. Among them is the Kennedy Center, a major cultural landmark in the U.S. capital.

In Florida, lawmakers have also adopted legislation to rename Palm Beach International Airport after the president.
