Morocco’s weather authority has expanded its orange-level alert, warning of strong to storm-force winds and heavy rain across a wider stretch of the country from Friday night into Saturday.
The General Directorate of Meteorology said updated forecasts now include Rabat, Temara Skhirat, Casablanca, Mohammedia, Settat and surrounding areas, where winds of 75 to 90 kilometers per hour are expected from Friday evening until early Saturday.
Stronger gusts of up to 105 kilometers per hour are forecast in parts of Al Haouz, Chichaoua, Essaouira, Safi and Midelt, with additional regions affected through Saturday afternoon.
The alert follows a red-level warning issued earlier for heavy rainfall in Agadir Ida Outanane, Taroudant and Essaouira, where totals could reach 80 to 120 millimeters. Authorities also warned of snowfall of up to 50 centimeters in High Atlas areas above 1,600 meters.
Residents are urged to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel and follow official guidance.
