Heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, with a risk of hail and strong wind gusts, is expected on Friday and Saturday in several provinces across the Kingdom, the Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) announced.
In an orange-level weather alert bulletin, the DGM stated that heavy thundery showers ranging between 40 and 65 mm are forecast from Friday at 6:00 a.m. to Saturday at 6:00 a.m. in the provinces of Al Hoceima, Khemisset, Beni Mellal, El Hajeb, Ifrane, Khenifra, Sefrou, Taounate, Taza, Chefchaouen, Fahs-Anjra, Larache, Ouezzane, Tangier-Assilah, Tetouan and M’Diq-Fnideq.
The same weather conditions, with rainfall amounts between 30 and 40 mm, are also expected in Driouch, Salé, Rabat, Kenitra, Skhirat-Temara, Fez, Moulay Yacoub, Meknes, Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, Benslimane, Khouribga, Azilal and Guercif.
In addition, strong wind gusts ranging from 70 to 85 km/h are forecast during the same period in several provinces, including M’Diq-Fnideq, Tinghir, Sidi Slimane, Rabat, Driouch, Jerada, Berkane, Nador, Oujda-Angad, Taourirt, Sidi Kacem, Salé, Tata, Ouarzazate, Taroudant, Skhirat-Temara, Azilal, Beni Mellal, Errachidia, Ifrane, Khenifra, Meknes, El Hajeb, Moulay Yacoub, Ouezzane, Fez, Sefrou, Midelt, Boulemane, Guercif, Guelmim, Kenitra, Khemisset, Sidi Ifni, Tiznit, Al Haouz, Tangier-Assilah, Zagora, Figuig, Al Hoceima, Taounate, Taza, Chefchaouen, Fahs-Anjra, Larache and Tetouan.
Authorities urge citizens to exercise caution and take the necessary preventive measures in light of these adverse weather conditions.
