More than 60 major players from the Spanish tourism sector, including airlines, travel agencies, and tour operators, participated on Sunday in a seminar at the Cité des Alizés dedicated to promoting Essaouira.
Organized by the Essaouira Provincial Tourism Council (CPT) with the support of the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) and in partnership with Vueling, the Andalusian Federation of Travel Agencies (FAAV), and the Catalan Federation of Travel Agencies (ACAVE), the event is part of “Essaouira Connect” (February 20–24). It aims to strengthen ties with the Spanish market and boost tourist flows between the two shores.
The seminar focused on sustaining direct flights from Barcelona and Seville to Essaouira and included workshops and B2B networking sessions showcasing Essaouira’s cultural, beach, and tourism assets, confirming the city’s appeal to Spanish travelers.
Redwane Khanne, president of the CPT, emphasized the strong relationships with Andalusia and Catalonia, noting that the event seeks to foster durable business partnerships. Younes Dbibirha, provincial tourism delegate, highlighted that this initiative allows local actors to identify new partners and develop the destination.
Spanish professionals praised the opening of direct Vueling flights and the evolution of the city’s hotel and tourism services. Field visits included the historic medina, ramparts, hotels and guesthouses, as well as cultural and beach infrastructures, showcasing the diversity and quality of Essaouira’s tourism offerings.
Through this initiative, the city reaffirms its status as a cultural and seaside destination of excellence, combining authenticity, hospitality, and openness to the world.
