Morocco and Switzerland Strengthen Political Dialogue and Strategic Cooperation

During a visit to Bern, Moroccan and Swiss officials reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening political dialogue and deepening cooperation across several strategic areas, particularly migration.

Relations between Morocco and Switzerland are experiencing positive momentum, which both countries aim to further reinforce. Meeting on Friday in Bern, Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita and Vice President of the Swiss Confederation Ignazio Cassis expressed their determination to deepen political dialogue and expand bilateral partnership.

Both officials welcomed the alignment of their positions on several issues of mutual interest, as well as the intensification of exchanges at both bilateral and multilateral levels. This renewed momentum paves the way for closer cooperation across various strategic sectors.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Mr. Bourita also held talks with Beat Jans, head of the Federal Department of Justice and Police. Discussions focused on prospects for cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the field of migration.

Mr. Jans praised the progress made in this area, highlighting the importance of the migration dialogue established in September 2023 through a permanent joint working group. This mechanism aims to strengthen coordination and improve the management of migration-related issues.

In this context, both parties agreed to jointly organize an event in 2026 marking the 20th anniversary of the Rabat Process, launched in 2006. This initiative falls within the framework of Switzerland’s presidency of the process and reflects their shared commitment to collaborative governance of migration issues.
