US soldiers missing in Morocco: Royal Armed Forces intensify search during African Lion 2026

Search operations are ongoing to locate two US soldiers reported missing during their participation in the African Lion 2026 exercise, according to official sources from the Royal Armed Forces.

Since May 2, specialized search and rescue units have been deployed շուրջ the clock in the area of Cap Draa, where the two soldiers were reported missing near a cliff.

Significant resources have been mobilized for the operation. The Royal Gendarmerie, the Royal Navy, the Atlas hunters, and military engineering units are all involved, deploying land, air, and maritime capabilities to expand the search perimeter and improve the chances of locating the missing soldiers.

At sea, Royal Navy divers have also carried out search operations inside caves located near Cap Draa as part of the intensified effort.
