HRH Prince Moulay Rachid Presides Over the Final of the 25th Hassan II Trophy for Traditional Equestrian Arts

His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid presided on Sunday at the Royal Complex of Equestrian Sports and Tbourida Dar Es Salam in Rabat over the final of the 25th edition of the Hassan II Trophy for Traditional Equestrian Arts (Tbourida), held from June 15 to 21 under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

Upon his arrival at the venue, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid was welcomed by Moulay Abdellah Alaoui, President of the Royal Moroccan Federation of Equestrian Sports (FRMSE), before reviewing a detachment of Auxiliary Forces that rendered honors.

The prestigious event brought together government officials, regional authorities, elected representatives, and key figures from Morocco’s sporting community to celebrate one of the country’s most prominent equestrian competitions.

From the official grandstand, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid followed the final performances of this landmark edition, which featured the finest sorbas (traditional cavalry teams) representing regions from across the Kingdom.

At the conclusion of the competition, His Royal Highness presented medals to the winners. In the Juniors category, the gold medal was awarded to the sorba led by Moqaddem Zouraizae Badr from Mediouna, while teams from Youssoufia and Guelmim secured silver and bronze medals, respectively.

In the Seniors category, the sorba led by Moqaddem Telhouni Mohamed-Amine from Settat claimed the championship title. The silver and bronze medals went to teams from Skhirat-Témara and Marrakech, respectively.

On this occasion, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid posed for commemorative photographs with the winning riders in both the Juniors and Seniors categories, recognizing their achievements and their contribution to preserving Morocco’s rich equestrian heritage.

Tbourida, also known as Fantasia, is judged according to strict criteria, including the synchronization of riders, galloping rhythm, rifle handling, timing of the collective firing sequence, mastery of the horse, and adherence to traditional attire and equipment.

Inscribed in 2021 on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, Tbourida remains one of Morocco’s most iconic cultural expressions. The 25th edition of the Hassan II Trophy once again showcased the excellence of Morocco’s traditional equestrian arts and the dedication of sorbas from all regions of the Kingdom.
