UK: Morocco’s Consulate General in London Brings Mobile Consular Services to Birmingham

The Consulate General of the Kingdom of Morocco in London successfully deployed a mobile consulate in Birmingham on Saturday, June 28, 2026, bringing essential consular services closer to members of the Moroccan community living across Birmingham and the wider Midlands region.

This initiative reflects the special attention that His Majesty King Mohammed VI consistently devotes to Moroccans living abroad and aligns with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates’ commitment to improving the accessibility, quality, and efficiency of consular services.

During the operation, the consular team delivered approximately 500 services, including the issuance and renewal of biometric passports, processing applications for the Moroccan National Electronic Identity Card (CNIE), civil registry services, document legalization and certification, as well as notarial and administrative procedures. Citizens also received guidance and information on a broad range of consular matters.

Beyond administrative services, the mobile consulate created an opportunity for direct dialogue with members of the Moroccan community, allowing consular officials to listen to their concerns, address their needs, and strengthen the relationship of trust between the consular administration and Moroccan citizens.

Home to a vibrant and steadily growing Moroccan community, the Midlands region—including Birmingham, Leicester, Coventry, and surrounding cities—plays an important role in the United Kingdom’s economic, social, and cultural landscape. Moroccan professionals, entrepreneurs, students, and young talents continue to contribute significantly while maintaining strong ties with their homeland.

Speaking on the occasion, Morocco’s Consul General in London, Mouad Ibriz, emphasized that the mobile consulate is one of the Ministry’s key initiatives to implement the Royal Vision of bringing consular services closer to Moroccan citizens wherever they reside. He also praised the dedication of Moroccan community associations, volunteers, and local partners whose commitment was instrumental to the success of the operation.

The Consulate General reaffirmed its commitment to expanding mobile consular services to other cities across the United Kingdom with significant Moroccan communities, ensuring accessible, modern, efficient, and citizen-centered public services.
