“I am pleased to announce that Mr. Stephen Miller, currently Deputy Chief of Staff in the Trump administration and one of my most trusted advisers, will become Chief of Staff effective Monday, November 9, 2026,” Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social.
The U.S. president also praised Susie Wiles’ work, saying she would join the political leadership of his movement and campaign organization, known as “The Trump Political Operation.” He thanked her for her service as head of the White House staff, describing her performance as an “excellent job.”
The departure of Wiles, who held a central position in the White House administration, and Miller’s promotion are expected to mark a new phase in the reshaping of the president’s inner circle.
As the first woman to serve as White House Chief of Staff, Wiles played a key role in Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, helping secure his return to the White House following his 2020 election defeat to Joe Biden.
Her departure marks the most significant change within the presidential team since the November 3 midterm elections, which cost Republicans their majority in Congress.
The position of White House Chief of Staff is one of the most influential roles in the U.S. executive branch. Its responsibilities include managing access to the president, coordinating information and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the administration.
