A new direct air route between Strasbourg and Marrakech was inaugurated on Sunday, operated by low-cost carrier EasyJet. The service connects Strasbourg-Entzheim Airport with Marrakech-Menara Airport, offering two weekly flights on Thursdays and Sundays.
This direct connection aims to improve air connectivity between the two cities, which previously relied mainly on connecting flights. It provides a faster and more convenient option for passengers, including tourists, business travelers, and members of the Moroccan diaspora living in eastern France.
The Moroccan Consul General in Strasbourg, Soumia Bouhamidi, welcomed the initiative, highlighting its potential to enhance mobility, cooperation, and economic exchanges between the two countries, while also strengthening family ties between both shores.
The President of Strasbourg Entzheim International Airport, Gilles Tellier, expressed satisfaction with the success of the inaugural flight, which was fully booked in both directions. He stressed that this new route aligns with the airport’s strategy to expand its international network.
Passengers also expressed their satisfaction, emphasizing the time savings and comfort provided by the direct flight, which eliminates the need for long layovers and complex connections through other European airports.
This new route is part of a broader expansion of air connectivity to Morocco, with Marrakech continuing to strengthen its position as a major tourist destination and an international air hub. EasyJet is also planning further expansion of its network in the region.
