Nigeria’s RMAFC is preparing an investment summit with Chinese investors to attract new capital into the country’s oil and gas sector.
The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission has begun consultations with government agencies ahead of a summit provisionally scheduled for late November 2026 in China. The meeting is expected to focus on opportunities across Nigeria’s upstream and downstream petroleum sectors, with particular attention to the country’s gas resources.
The initiative aims to attract new investment and increase revenues accruing to the Federation Account. Nigerian authorities are seeking to mobilise additional international capital to develop energy infrastructure and increase hydrocarbon production.
Gas at the Centre of the Strategy
The Nigerian government is seeking to attract more international financing to develop energy infrastructure and unlock the country’s considerable gas potential. The summit is expected to present Chinese investors with opportunities in exploration, production, processing and infrastructure.
For Abuja, the challenge is twofold: increase production while strengthening the sector’s contribution to public revenues. The initiative also comes as Nigeria seeks to diversify its financing sources and expand industrial and economic partnerships with Asian economies
