The Government Council will meet on Thursday under the chairmanship of Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch, with an agenda that includes six draft decrees covering housing, higher education, industry and chemical weapons.
According to a statement from the Department of the Head of Government, the Council will examine six draft decrees.
The first concerns the prohibition of the development, production, stockpiling and use of chemical weapons, as well as their destruction.
The second draft seeks to amend and supplement the decree defining the forms of state housing assistance and the procedures for granting it to buyers purchasing homes intended as their primary residence.
The third concerns amendments to the decree establishing the El Jorf Industrial Acceleration Zone (IAZ).
Higher Education Among the Main Items
The Council will also examine three draft decrees relating to higher education and scientific research.
The fourth text concerns the composition, organization and operating procedures of the National Commission for the Coordination of Higher Education (CNCES) and its subsidiary permanent committees.
The fifth draft aims to amend and supplement the decree concerning the missions of higher education institutions, higher education study cycles and the corresponding national diplomas.
The sixth text concerns the implementation of Articles 30, 42, 48 and 53 of the law on higher education and scientific research.
Agreement with Niger Also on the Agenda
The Government Council will also consider an agreement concerning convicted persons, signed in Niamey on April 8, 2026, between the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco and the Government of the Republic of Niger.
A draft law approving the agreement will also be examined.
Appointments to Senior Positions
The Council will conclude its proceedings with the examination of proposals for appointments to senior positions, in accordance with Article 92 of the Constitution.
Thursday’s meeting will therefore cover a broad range of issues, including housing, industry, higher education, scientific research and international judicial cooperation.
