Donald Trump issues ultimatum to Iran, warns of escalation

U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday escalated his warnings toward Iran, just hours before the deadline of an ultimatum linked to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

The White House leader threatened to strike strategic Iranian infrastructure, including energy facilities and bridges, if Iran fails to reopen the vital maritime passage, through which roughly one-fifth of global oil consumption transits.

In a message posted on Truth Social, Donald Trump warned of a potentially dramatic outcome, stating that an “entire civilization” could disappear, while adding that he does not wish for such a scenario.

The U.S. president also hinted at the possibility of regime change in Iran, suggesting that a political transformation could significantly alter the situation.

These statements are part of a series of warnings directed at Tehran in recent days. On Monday, Donald Trump had already said the country could be “wiped out in a single night,” further heightening tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint in global energy trade.
