The National Association of Civil Engineers (ANIC) was officially established on Sunday in Salé through an initiative led by civil engineers and representatives of construction companies. The new organization aims to bring together stakeholders across Morocco’s construction and public works (BTP) ecosystem and contribute to the sector’s development.
At the end of the founding general assembly, Amine Brahim El Barkaoui was elected president of the association. ANIC seeks to actively support the modernization of the sector by strengthening cooperation among stakeholders, including professional associations and other construction-related organizations with shared objectives.
According to its president, the association was created to consolidate ongoing efforts to unite the various players in the construction ecosystem, including engineering consultancies, project owners, property developers, quality control firms, laboratories, and building materials suppliers. ANIC also plans to expand its presence across Morocco in line with the country’s advanced regionalization strategy.
Training is one of the association’s key priorities. ANIC intends to establish partnerships with public and private educational institutions in Morocco and abroad to enhance the skills of professionals and improve the overall quality of the sector.
Karim Toumanti, a member of ANIC’s National Council, said the association is being launched at a time of sustained growth in construction projects and an evolving regulatory framework. He stressed the importance of fostering collective intelligence by bringing together the expertise of highly qualified professionals to achieve better outcomes for the industry.
Another National Council member, Soufiane Smaili, noted that civil engineers have not always received the recognition they deserve within the construction ecosystem. He said the new association will help elevate the profession while injecting fresh momentum into the sector’s development.
