Crédit Agricole du Maroc is strengthening its services for Moroccans living abroad in order to better support their investment projects in Morocco. The approach reflects a broader shift: diaspora transfers are increasingly viewed not only as financial flows, but also as a potential source of productive investment.
In Marrakech, Crédit Agricole du Maroc organized the first edition of “CAM MDM – Roots & Horizons”, aimed at strengthening relations with Moroccans living abroad and gaining a better understanding of their financing needs.
The initiative targets individuals, professionals and companies seeking to finance projects in Morocco.
The Diaspora Is Becoming a Major Economic Stakeholder
The potential is substantial: the diaspora possesses capital, international networks, expertise and knowledge of foreign markets.
The challenge is therefore to move from a transfer-based model toward an investment-based model involving productive real estate, industry, agriculture, services, innovation, international trade and equity participation in companies.
This strategy could also provide a model for other African countries seeking to mobilize their diasporas as a development and investment lever.
