TAMWILCOM and the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) have signed a guarantee agreement covering a €250 million financing facility granted by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to ONEE’s Water Branch.
Signed in Rabat on July 28, 2026, this operation marks the first concrete outcome of the partnership established between TAMWILCOM and the EBRD on June 6, 2026, in Latvia.
Under the agreement, TAMWILCOM will provide a guarantee in support of the financing granted by the EBRD to ONEE. This also represents the first EBRD financing operation in Morocco benefiting from a TAMWILCOM guarantee.
The financing will support ONEE’s investment projects aimed at improving the efficiency, resilience, and sustainability of drinking water production infrastructure.
The initiative contributes to Morocco’s efforts to strengthen water security and address challenges linked to climate change by supporting the development of more resilient and sustainable water infrastructure.
On this occasion, TAMWILCOM Director General Saïd Jabrani said that the agreement confirms TAMWILCOM’s role as a key instrument for mobilizing external resources in support of national priorities under the supervision of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
“This first operation reflects our ambition to establish sustainable cooperation with the EBRD and continue mobilizing financing to support Morocco’s development,” he said.
Through this initiative, TAMWILCOM reaffirms its mission of using its guarantee mechanisms to support strategic public projects by facilitating access for public institutions and state-owned enterprises to external financing adapted to their investment needs.
